After breakfast around 8:00 AM, you’ll depart with packed lunches for Lake Natron, a 3.5-hour drive from Mto wa Mbu or Manyara. This surreal, shallow, and highly alkaline lake is one of East Africa’s most unique natural wonders. After checking into your lodge and taking a short break, join a Maasai guide for a scenic walk along the lake’s shores, where you can spot flocks of lesser flamingos—Lake Natron’s most famous residents and the species’ main breeding ground in East Africa. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening.
